It took just 24 hours for yesterday’s season record Santa Gertrudis price to be broken, with David and Suzanne Bassingthwaighte, Waco Santa Gertrudis selling the fourth lot of their annual on-property bull sale for $110,000.
Santa Gertrudis stud breeder Norm Black, Ayredale std, Federal, NSW, paid the top money for Waco Umpire U172 (P), eclipsing the $85,000 paid for the top price bull at yesterday’s Yaarawonga sale.
Craig Atkinson, Cardona Santa Gertrudis, was the second top price buyer, paying $85,000 for lot 32, Waco U516 (P).
Two lots sold for $32,500, lot 1, Waco Unit U540 (PS) to Scott Dunlop, Dunlop Santa Gertrudis and lot 76, Waco T668 (P) to Ben Adams, Dangarfield Cattle Co. – Santa Gertrudis Breeders.
Two other lots sold for $30,000, lot 5, Waco Usman U44 (P) to Liz Allen, Forest Park Santas and lot 6, Waco Upton U192 (P) to Will Roberts, Victoria Downs, Morven.
The volume buyer was Tom and Sandra Hartley, Hartley Grazing, Coopermurra, Qld who bought 11 head.
Other bulk buyers were Hatcham Downs Cattle Co, 6 hd; Jason and Jo Thornton, Mount Maria, 5hd; Cooloo Pastoral Co, Quilpie, 5 hd and R&J Thompson, Grafton, NSW, 5hd.
