Spirited bidding at the Taroom showgrounds on Tuesday for bulls at the Dawson Valley multi-vendor sale offered by the Santa Gertrudis studs of Jamally, Annabranch, Red Mile and Valleyview has increased last year’s sale average from $9326 to $10,784.

Spirited bidding at the Taroom showgrounds on Tuesday for bulls at the Dawson Valley multi-vendor sale offered by the Santa Gertrudis studs of Jamally, Annabranch, Red Mile and Valleyview has increased last year’s sale average from $9326 to $10,784.
The impressive $1458 sale average increase came from 58 bulls sold from 70 offered, propelling the gross taking to $630,500.
Of the S classified bulls presented, 47 from 54 offered sold to an average of $10,945 while 11 of 16 herd bulls averaged $10,090.
The sale’s top price also took a sharp upward turn, more than doubling from the $18,000 paid last year to $37,500 thanks to Dean and Jade Hague, Rockingham Santa stud, Tara Station, Condobolin, NSW who snared Jamally Utah U44, a 23-month-old polled son of Rockingham Quicksand Q136 out of a Jamally cow bred by Jamie and Allison Becker, Alkoomie, Taroom.
Luke and Carly Baker, Annabranch stud, Wandoan, sold the second top price, lot 11, Annabranch Ultra U124 (P) to Juandah Aggregation, Juandah Plains, Wandoan, for $23,000.
