Three exceptional Santa Gertrudis bulls packing solid performance-recorded data offered by Shaun and Jo McGuiggan of Cree stud, Thangool have shared equal top-price honours at the couple’s annual on-property sale on Monday, each going to commercial and stud producers for $22,000.
The sale-topping sires were part of a 74-lot draft that sold to an average of $10,108 from 76 bulls offered, posting a total gross taking of $779,980.

The sale-topping sires were part of a 74-lot draft that sold to an average of $10,108 from 76 bulls offered, posting a total gross taking of $779,980.
The top price bulls were:
• Lot 3: Cree Quickdraw U290, a son of Gyranda Quickdraw Q492, purchased by the Speed family, of Brigodoon Cattle Co, Wandoan, Qld.
• Lot 10: Cree Quicksilver U146, a late October 2022 son of Rosvale Quicksilver Q256, purchased by the Dr Joyce Family Trust, Tyrone.
• Lot 59: Cree Quicksilver U120, also by Rosvale Quicksilver, purchased by new Santa Gertrudis stud breeders, Andrew and Andrea Delforce, Anadel Rural, Augathella, who have established their growing operation on a Cree female base.
The second top price bull of the sale was lot 13, Cree Jackaroo, another Rosevale son with 11 traits in the top 10 EBV percentile that sold for $21,000 to Reiser Pastoral, Eidsvold.
Volume buyers included Calliope Cattle Co, Calliope, paying to a top of $7000 on three occasions and an average of $5888, while Campbell Pastoral Holdings, Mitchell, paid a top of $18,000 for eight bulls averaging $11,750.
In the heifer offering, which achieved a 100 per cent clearance of the seven females offered, Lionel Simpson, Tully, purchased five lots to a top of $7000 and an average of $4100.
