Pampoola Santa Gertrudis was originally founded in 1952 by the Schmidt Family where the cattle were bred at Avondale, Cunnamulla.   The stud is now owned and operated by Tony & Louise Prentice along with children Lucy & William since purchasing 140 females and progeny in 2017.

The herd is now located 30km outside of Emerald on the Central Highlands of Queensland, operated in conjunction with Jamar Santa Gertrudis Stud No. 2117 focusing on the same strict culling program to maintain the stud’s standards – temperament and fertility play a major role.

The Santa Gertrudis breed continues to strengthen as cattlemen appreciate the versatility and financial benefits of breeding with Santa Gertrudis.  We are passionate about breeding quality industry relevant cattle that fit any market whether for purebred or crossbreeding programs.  We have developed a strong commercial following and focus within our herd and continue to strive to breed consistent reliable cattle.
