Jamar Santa Gertrudis is a small family operated seedstock and commercial operation which was founded in 2012 by Tony & Louise Prentice along with children Lucy & William.  The original stud was based on cattle sourced from the Gyranda, Diamond H, Cardona, Glenn Oaks and Yulgilbar studs with females selected for structural soundness, breed type, fleshing and easy doing ability.  A strict culling program is enforced and maintained to the stud’s standards – temperament and fertility play a major role.

Jamar is located 30km east from Emerald on the Central Highlands of Queensland, we operate the stud along with a commercial herd of cows on nearby agistment properties.  Depending on conditions all cattle are either finished on grass or in the feedlot with our sale bulls marketed annually at the Cardona Jamar Sale in late September.

The Santa Gertrudis breed continues to strengthen as cattlemen appreciate the versatility and financial benefits of breeding with Santa Gertrudis.  We are passionate about breeding quality industry relevant cattle that fit any market whether for purebred or crossbreeding programs. We have developed a strong commercial following and focus in our herd and believe in breeding consistent reliable cattle.
