Glenalbyn
Glenalbyn stud (no. 466) was established north of Bourke, on the Queensland border, more than 50 years ago when classified Santa Gertrudis bulls were introduced to our stud Poll Hereford cows in the mid 1960’s. This resulted in Mick, Poppy and Howard Courts registering their stud, Glenalbyn, in 1969. Stud cows were then purchased from Yarrawonga and sires from Pampoola, King Ranch and Spring Creek.
In the early 1980’s sires were purchased from Swan Hill, Robenlea, Rosevale, Watasanta and the final King Ranch sale. In 1986 and 1987 two leading sires were purchased from Yarrawonga. In the late 80’s more females were purchased from Yarrawonga.
In the early 1990’s Glenalbyn Alee and Alcatraz were sent to Scott Ferguson to prepare and show. These 2 bulls were shown very successfully from Rockhampton to Sydney and many shows in between with many broad ribbons won. At the same time Howard showed other bulls at many local shows in western NSW also with great results. The flow on effect of showing cattle in these couple of years were priceless resulting in an increase of bull sales.
In 2014, retaining all its females, Glenalbyn Stud relocated to Wellington, NSW. Glenn Oaks Jetlag was then purchased for $24,000 and further adding to the sire power, Warenda Kingston and Denngal Magic were purchased in 2016 and 2018. These sires form the basis of our stud animals on sale at our inaugural on property sale in conjunction with Munnabah Stud on Monday 15 August 2022.
Glenn Oaks Palo was purchased in 2020 for the then Australian record price of $126,000 (in conjunction with Munnabah). His calves are developing well, and we look forward to being able to present them in 2023. On offer at our sale will be 6 classified heifers PTIC to Glenn Oaks Palo.
Our cattle have proven that they can adapt to all conditions and reproduce every year. The cattle produced are soft, sound and easy doing that can manage tough conditions.
