The RJ Kleberg Scholarship identifies and supports the Santa Gertrudis Australia Ambassador each year, honouring the legacy of breed founder Robert J. Kleberg Jnr, whose vision led to the development of the Santa Gertrudis breed at King Ranch, Texas, US before expanding to Australia in 1952.
The RJ Kleberg Scholarship provides unparalleled professional development opportunities and a platform to drive youth engagement and play an active role in shaping the future of the breed.

Program Overview
The Santa Gertrudis Australia Ambassador undertakes a 12-month leadership role aligned with the strategic priorities of the SGB(A)A.
Key responsibilities include:
- Representing Santa Gertrudis Australia at major events, including Royal Shows and industry forums
- Supporting youth initiatives and Association activities
- Assisting with delivery of the National Youth Camp
- Providing quarterly updates to Council
- Contributing to Santa Gertrudis Australia communications, including the Santa Journal
The Ambassador will also visit the United States to build international connections. The role is supported by the SGB(A)A Council and General Manager, who provide ongoing guidance and mentorship.
