Dangarfield Santa Gertrudis bulls sell to $55,000, average $16,240
Ben and Amanda Adams’ Dangarfield Santa Gertrudis stud recorded a complete clearance at their annual bull sale held on Tuesday at Kingswood, Taroom, with strong competition driving solid averages across both stud sire and herd bull offerings.
All 35 classified Santa Gertrudis stud bulls offered sold to achieve a 100 per cent clearance, averaging $17,300 and grossing $605,500.
Leading the stud sire section was Lot 4, Dangarfield Jinx (P) (IVF), a 22-mo son of Dangarfield Fame and Fortune (IVF) out of a Dangarfield cow, which topped the sale at $55,000. The bull was purchased by Shaun and Jo McGuigan, Cree Santa Gertrudis, Thangool.
The second top price bull, Lot 32, Dangarfield Jasper (P), a son of Rosevale Thaiday T110 (PP), sold to Rick and Alice Greenup, Eidsvold Station, for $34,000.
Volume buyer honours were shared between five different commercial entities who secured three bulls apiece.
Demand remained strong throughout the sale, with several bulls secured by leading seedstock producers.
Other Santa Gertrudis stud breeders buying Dangarfield bulls included:

The herd bull portion of the catalogue also achieved a total clearance, with all 13 bulls offered finding new homes. The herd bulls averaged $13,384 and sold to a top of $28,000 for Lot 56.
Across the 48 bulls offered, the sale achieved a gross of $779,520 and an overall average of $16,240.
