Solid debut for Carnarvon sale at Injune
The inaugural Carnarvon Santa Gertrudis Sale attracted solid buyer support at the Injune Rodeo Club grounds, with 39 bulls selling from 53 offered for a 74 per cent clearance.
The offering, featuring bulls from Luke and Carly Baker’s Annabranch Santa Stud, Wandoan, and Scott and Wendy Ferguson and family’s Glenn Oaks Santa Gertrudis Stud, Clifton, averaged $10,307 and grossed $402,000.
The sale reached an equal top price of $20,000 on three occasions.
The first top-priced bull was Lot 9, Annabranch Western Star W102 (P), a son of Yarrawonga Ironman P914 (PP), purchased by Peter and Sue Joliffe, Walhallow, Amby.
The remaining two equal top sellers were secured by Arrabury Pastoral Company. Lot 38, Glenn Oaks Valencia V100, a son of Walmona Caspian (AI) (P), sold for $20,000, while Lot 40, Glenn Oaks Velocity V756, sired by Yarrawonga Kathmandu R236 and out of a Wave Hill dam, also realised $20,000.
Arrabury Pastoral Company was one of the sale’s leading volume buyers, purchasing five bulls for an average of $17,400 and a total investment of $87,000. Its selections included the second-highest-priced bull, Lot 15, Glenn Oaks V234 (PP), which sold for $19,000.
Arrabury Pastoral Company shared volume buyer honours with KJ and SL Boyd, Clyde Park, Hughenden, who also purchased five bulls. Their draft averaged $7600 for a total outlay of $38,000.
Hartley Grazing was close behind, securing four bulls at an average of $9000.
The sale was officiated by auctioneers Cyril Close, TopX Roma, and Brodie Hurley, Nutrien Ag Solutions Queensland Stud Stock, and interfaced online through AuctionsPlus.
