Classified S bulls sold to a top of $82,000 and a herd bull for $50,000 at today’s Waco Santa Gertrudis sale, where the entire draft of 94 bulls sold to an average of $14,650, grossing $1,377,000 for vendors David and Suzanne Bassingthwaighte and family.

The top money was paid by Scott Dunlop, Dunlop Santa Gertrudis, Proston for Lot 18, Waco MV634 (IVF), a son of Waco Massi (P).

Shane Hatton, Diamond H Santa Gertrudis, Chinchilla paid the second top price of $67,500 for Lot 4, Waco MV38, a son of Waco Paxton P164 (P).

The volume buyer was well-established Dawson Valley grass and grain finisher, John Rodger, Hatcham Downs, Taroom who secured 12 head for a total outlay of $86,000.

Sean Dillon, Surbiton Station, Alpha, who was among the bulk buyers at yesterday’s Yarrawonga Cattle Co sale, was again active purchasing 5 head at an average of $12,400.

Will Roberts, Victoria Downs, Morven paid a 2025 record of $50,000 for a Santa Gertrudis herd bull, selling at Lot 83.

While commercial beef producers brought strong demand for thumping bulls to the on-property selling complex at Gruidae, Mungallala, stud breeders were equally competitive for premium Waco genetics.
