Santa Gertrudis stud breeders and commercial beef producers have seized the opportunity to secure quality genetics at today’s 20th anniversary Santa Central Sale, driving prices to a top of $65,000, with the average paid on 66 bulls from 70 offered finishing at $12,977.

Luke and Carly Baker, Annabranch Stud, paid the top money for lot 13, Glenn Oaks Valentino V722, a Yarrabee Gunyah 1377 (P) son offered by Scott and Wendy Ferguson, Clifton, Qld.

Scott and Rebecca Dunlop, Dunlop Santa Gertrudis paid the second top price of $52,500 for lot 3, Kilcock Ugle-Hagen U200, an Aberdeen V34 son out of a Bullamakinka cow, offered by Matthew Way, Deniliquin, NSW.

The volume buyer of the Santa Central draft, assembled by six stud prefixes – Baan Baa, Diamond H, Glenn Oaks, Kilcock, Warenda and Wave Hill, at the Headingly Sale Complex, Clifton, was Craig Purtel, Mungindi, who secured 16 bulls.

On Monday night to mark Santa Central’s 20th anniversary, 11 females from 11 offered were sold at an average of $8364 and to a top of $14,000 twice – lot 3, Wave Hill Ukie U215 to Andrew and Fiona Bassingthwaighte, Yarrawonga Cattle Co, Wallumbilla, Qld and lot 10, Glenn Oaks Unforgettable U247 to Tom and Anna Dunlop, Munnabah Santa Gertrudis, Coolah, NSW.

Twelve embryo packages from 12 offered sold to a top of $8000, averaging $6000.
