Tony and Louise Prentice of Jamar Santa Gertrudis Stud celebrated a successful outcome at their annual on-property bull sale near Emerald, achieving a complete clearance of all 55 bulls offered.
The sale averaged an impressive $16,363 per head, generating a gross of nearly $900,000.
The top-priced bull, Lot 5 – Jamar Valentino V06 (P) — the first son of newly released sire Cardona Vino V23 (P), was purchased for $40,000 by Shannon Gardner, General Manager of NIOA Pastoral, Allora Qld (pictured with vendor Louise Prentice and his acquisition after the sale).
The second top-price was Lot 45 – Jamar Van Damme V140 (AI) (PP) — a son of Glenn Oaks Jibba J28 (P) and Agvac Genie, a cow renowned for her productivity and longevity.
He was sold to the Cross family of Anakie, Qld for $29,000.
Repeat buyers WH Kettle & Co, Clermont, were the sale’s volume purchasers, securing 10 bulls at an average of $16,700.
R&S Cattle Co also made a strong showing, taking home 8 bulls at an average of $19,250.
Stud breeders were active throughout the sale, with standout purchases including:
- Lot 1: Mark Bolster, Cooloon, Tweed Heads NSW – $22,000
- Lot 7: Ben Adams, Dangarfield Cattle Co. – Santa Gertrudis Breeders, Taroom Qld – $28,000
