Heartland Santa Gertrudis sale delivers strong results and emotional tribute

An emotionally charged Heartland Santa Gertrudis Breeders Group bull sale wrapped up today at Roma Saleyards, where 14 dedicated vendors united to achieve an impressive 84% clearance rate, averaging $9,520.

This year’s event carried special weight for the close-knit sale community, mourning the loss of beloved member Sharon Seawright earlier in the year.

Sharon’s legacy was deeply felt throughout the day, especially through the prominence of the Jazzmaree Santa Gertrudis stud she built alongside her husband, Peter, at Injune.

Sale highlights:

🐂Top-price bull: Jazzmaree V758 (P) sold for $28,000 at Lot 45 to Cameron and Rosie Drynan of Bogong, Dirranbandi. The Drynans praised the bull’s elite pedigree — a son of Hardigreen Park Wow P20 (P) — and his standout physical traits:

✅Weight: 946 kg
✅ADG: 1.23
✅Scans: 12/10 fats, 135 EMA, 5.5 IMF, 40.5 sc.

🐂 Second top-price: Glenn Oaks United U160 (P), a Yarrawonga Kathmandu R236 son, fetched $19,000 at Lot 2, purchased by Peter Seawright. This rising sire impressed with:

✅Weight: 962 kg
✅Scans: 11/9 fats, 145 EMA, 5.2 IMF, 39 sc.

In a heartfelt gesture, the White family of Beefwood Santa Gertrudis stud, Wallumbilla, offered a special charity heifer in Sharon’s honour, with proceeds supporting the RFDS mental health service.

Peter Seawright purchased the heifer for $8500, underscoring the shared purpose within the Heartland group.

Jordan Cleland of Wallumbilla emerged as the volume buyer, securing five head online at an average of $8000, a strong endorsement of the sale’s quality offering.

Agents: The sale was conducted by PJH Livestock & Property and simulcast via StockLive, with invited auctioneer Sam Greenup skillfully calling the bids.
