A loyal buyer of Bullamakinka bulls, who was among last year’s top-price buyers, returned to Longreach today to clinch the top honour, only this time walking away with two bulls, each fetching the equal top price of $40,000.
The rare result was one of several standout moments for Bullamakinka stud principal Craig Hindle, whose sale at WQLX Longreach saw 75 of 76 bulls sold, averaging $12,906 and generating a total gross of $974,000.
The two top-price bulls were the only purchases for Darryl and Carmel Waugh, Brentwood Santa Gertrudis stud, Goovigen, who secured lot 2, Bullamakinka V172 (P) and lot 16, Bullamakinka V68 (P).
The former is a Bullamakinka Queenslander Q80 (PP) son, weighing 874 kg at 21 months with 1.29 DWG, 141 EMA, 14/12 fats, 5.7 IMF and 39.5 scrotal.
The latter is a Waco Nelson N384 (PS) son weighing 806 kg at 19 months with scans of 133 EMA, 14/12 fats, 5.4 IMF, 37 scrotal and 1.32 DWG.
The second top money of $34,000 was paid by ALC Rural for lot 4, Bullamakinka V112 (AI) (P), a Waco Napoleon N80 (PP) son out of a Bullamakinka cow.
Buyers assembling solid drafts of Santa Gertrudis bulls, included Rosehearty Grazing, Muckadilla and MacDonald Downs, NT at 9 head apiece, Mackunda Downs, Winton, 8 hd, ALC Rural, 6 hd, Willsdown Pastoral Co, Boulia, 5 hd, Maranthona, Longreach, 4 hd and Juanita Grazing, Emerald, 3 hd.
