Yulgilbar

Yulgilbar Santa Gertrudis

Stud 13 – Yulgilbar was established on historic Yulgilbar Station in northern NSW in 1954 and is now the third oldest Santa Gertrudis Stud in the country. The stud was established by Sam Hordern who was a founding owner of King Ranch Australia which was established in a joint venture with King Ranch Texas in 1952. Yulgilbar is now proudly owned by Sam’s daughter Sarah and her husband Baillieu Myer.

Yulgilbar is located at Baryulgil NSW and consists of 14,000ha with 25km of double frontage to the Clarence River and another 22km of double frontage to Washpool Creek, running back into the eastern foothills of the Great Dividing Range. It currently runs 800 head of stud cattle, a commercial herd of 4500 head and crops approximately 1000 hectares. The Annual Production Sale in September offers up to 100 stud bulls each year. In February approximately 700 commercial females are offered (including Santa Gertrudis, Santa Angus and Santa Hereford females), however up to 50 Private sale bulls are available for sale at any time, as is semen from selected sires. Yulgilbar pursues an active purchasing program, regularly introducing new bloodlines into the herd and ensuring that the gene pool is keeping up with changing times. Station Manager Brett Ellem is always happy to showcase Yulgilbar’s stock to interested breeders.
