Yarrabee

Stud 1202 – Maurice and Margaret Barlow, founded the Yarrabee Stud in 1981.

The Yarrabee herd and prefix was founded with Bally Keel Stud cows and second cross Santa Gertrudis females upgraded from Yarrabee Stock utilizing both Brae View and Cardona bulls.

The Yarrabee stud currently comprises 145 classified females and their progeny run on 2500ha (6100ac) rich Brigalow country north of Dingo. Wilamba, Yarrajay and Leaowen and other family members have all run stud cattle with Yarrabee Stud herd and combine to sell at the Yarrabee Santa Gertrudis Bull Sale at Emerald each year. Presently the stud involves five single sire herds with sires sourced in the past from a large and varied genetic pool including selected Yarrabee bulls.

Although small in comparison to many other studs, the Yarrabee herd is a quality herd of cattle which has evolved through careful selection through the years that reflects on the quality of bulls we sell. Sires have been introduced from leading studs such as Yarrawonga, Cardona, Waco, Bullamakinka and Glenn Oaks.
